Engenheiros do Hawaii ("Engineers from Hawaii" in English) is a Brazilian rock band formed in Porto Alegre in 1985 that achieved great popularity with their ironic, critically charged songs with heavily semantic lyrics often relying on wordplays. The vocalist and bassist Humberto Gessinger is the only original member still in the band today.
Refrain of a bolero
That I said "no way"
Now I regret biting the nails
vulnerable witnesses
Of a crime without forgiving
But I said "no way"
Heart in Hand
As a refrain of a bolero
I was honest as you cannot be
It is a mistake as well, so vulgar
Haunts us all night
And just when the drinking is over
He manages to find us
In a bar,
With a cheap wine
A cigarette in the ashtray
And a drunk face
In the bathroom mirror
Your lips are labyrinths
What attracted my naughty instincts
And your gaze always distant always fool me
I always enter in your dance gypsy.
That I said "no way"
Now I regret biting the nails
vulnerable witnesses
Of a crime without forgiving
But I spoke without thinking
Heart in Hand
As the refrain of a bolero
I was sincere
I was sincere
Your lips are labyrinths
What attracted my naughty instincts
And your gaze always fool me
It's the end of the world every day of the week. (2x)
